The School of Exercise Science & Sport features a comprehensive program providing students with collaborative options that develop their personal relationships with faculty mentors. Performance Learning opportunities that combine classroom theory with hands-on experiences are available across all programs. Students hone their skills working with Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ’s NCAA DIII athletic teams, as well as area schools, hospitals, sport, recreation, athletic organizations, and community-based health and wellness facilities.

      Athletic Training 3+2

      Students interested in the Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) will complete the first three years in the Exercise Science major then be eligible for a secondary admission process to complete the MSAT program. Students selecting this path will graduate with a master’s degree in five years.

      Exercise Science

      This program prepares students both for graduate studies and careers in clinical, corporate, commercial, community, and private sector exercise and wellness settings. Aligned with Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) standards, students earn national certifications in personal training and strength and conditioning coaching.

      Master of Science in Athletic Training

      As an athletic trainer, you will be a qualified, allied health care professional. Your education and experience will include the prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, protection and management of health care problems associated with diverse populations.
    • Sport & Recreation Management

      Physical Education

      The Physical Education major prepares students for the Illinois teaching license for K-12 classrooms. This program is accredited by the Illinois Board of Education. Additional certifications in health and driver education are available.

      This major prepares students with management skills to plan, organize, lead and evaluate programs that apply business knowledge to operations in sport, recreation and athletic organizations at a variety of levels.

      Students who aspire to work with people one-on-one to help them reach their health and wellness goals may be particularly interested in this minor.
