Minor in Dance
The Minor in Dance is an exciting and rigorous 21-credit course of study designed to introduce students to a wide array of disciplines. Dance minors are the core of the Â鶹ԼÅÄ dance community and are very active in our annual dance concert as performers and choreographers. Opportunities often present themselves for dance minors to become active in campus and community events as choreographers, teachers, performers, arts advocates, etc… Any student wishing to pursue a minor in dance is welcome to do so.

Specialization (8 Credits)
In addition to the core requirements listed, each student must select two areas of specialization and complete a total of 8 combined credits in those areas, (example: ballet and modern). A minimum of 5 credits must be at the 300 level or above.
While students may begin taking dance classes as early as their 1st semester, the formal process of declaring the minor does not happen until the spring semester of their sophomore year. All classes taken prior to that point will be credited toward the requirements for the minor.
Students with advanced training may be placed in higher levels by the dance faculty but must still complete a minimum of one course in each of the aforementioned disciplines.
The School of Theatre and Dance is not responsible for possible course conflicts that may keep students from completing the minor. Therefore, students should consult with their academic advisors to map out a strategy to ensure all requirements will be met.
