Student Development Grants and Loans
The Office of Student Development offers several loans and grants to assist students in emergency situation or for unplanned expenses. These loans and grants are meant to remove barriers for success at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ and to assist students in their primary pursuit of achieving academic persistence and success (and, ultimately, graduation!) at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ. The following grants and loans are available for application:

Grant DFA is a joint effort of area religious organizations to give monetary support to persons who have emergency financial needs. DFA provides a systematic way to verify needs and provides a central location for persons seeking emergency financial assistance for water, power, eye prescription, dental through MCHD and some prescription meds. Porter Emergency Loan Fund Short-Term Loan The Porter Emergency Loan Fund was established to minimize the impact of unexpected financial challenges for our students.
- Undergraduate full-time degree-seeking students
- Good standing (cumulative GPA of at least 2.0, no disciplinary or financial encumberances)
- Students may be awarded between $100 and $1000 in total assistance per academic year
- Repayment usually must be made by the end of the academic year for which it is given (last day of finals in May)
- The amount of the loan will be added to student account
- This loan cannot be used toward a student account balance
Glenn Emergency Fund Short-Term Loan or Grant - Used for general purposes for students who experience financial hardship
- The availability of a loan or grant funds is at the discretion of the Dean of Student Development
- Receipts for expenses may be required for proof of money spent
- This loan or grant cannot be used toward a student account balance
Linda Slagell Student Success Fund Grant - Full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate students
- Good standing (2.0 cumulative GPA, etc.)
- Satisfactory degree progress
- Stated reason for grant necessary from student applicant
Joseph and Carole Killpatrick Fund Short-Term Loan or Grant - Full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate students
- Good standing (2.0 cumulative GPA, etc.)
- This loan or grant cannot be used toward a student account balance
- The availability of loan or grant funds is at the discretion of the Dean of Student Development
- Loan funding will be added to student account
