The School of Biological and Environmental Studies at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ University invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Biology to commence on August 1, 2025. 

A Ph.D. in Biology or a related discipline conferred before August 2025 is required for a tenure-track position. While candidates in all areas of expertise will be considered, those that overlap areas related to ecotoxicology, anatomy or physiology, or microbiology are preferred. Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching is required. This position carries a full-time teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester. Expected courses for this position include anatomy and physiology for Biology, Nursing, and Athletic Training majors, an advanced course in the candidate’s area of specialty, and non-major courses that meet the university natural science with a lab general education requirement within the faculty’s expertise. There are also opportunities to develop travel courses should applicants be interested in such course delivery methods. The successful applicant must maintain a program of active scholarship and supervise research projects by undergraduate students. Other duties include advising students and university service. Availability to instruct in-person at Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ University’s Decatur, Illinois, campus is required.

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ’s School of Biological and Environmental Studies offers majors in Biology with focuses in Secondary Education, Life Science Studies, Pre-Professional Studies, and Biomedical Engineering. The School has approximately 100 students majoring across our offerings. Additionally, the School houses the Environmental Studies major, an interdisciplinary major with focuses in natural resources and policy. Faculty in our School teach many courses in support of the University's general education and Honors programs.
